Flesh House – Book Review

To begin with – this is not for the faint hearted… Nor is it a Ms Marple/Midsommer style of British crime story.

It’s dark, and gruesome.

Set in and around Aberdeen this is the fourth instalment of the Logan McRae series, however you don’t need to read the others to pick up the story or characters as you can find your way easily enough.

Flesh House hinges on a past and a present crime spree. The Police thought they put a serial killer away twenty years ago; a man who killed, dismembered his victims and then left a little something in the freezer. But when he’s released and the crimes start up again, there are more unanswered questions than ever, and they don’t point back to the same suspect.

Flesh House takes in the vulnerable aspects of policing that we don’t often see: How the police cope individually, and it affects their families…

And then it will scare the pants off of you.

I repeat it’s not for those of a mild disposition, especially when you see how easily our food chain can be compromised. Having said that, if you love your Scottish authors and their grisly tales, Stuart MacBride is not to be missed.
