Gareth has a long history with 2CH. He first worked with us in 1980 for a number of years on the Drive Program and then came back to us in 2003 after having worked on air at many other Sydney stations including 2GB, 2UE, 2SM, 2KM and 2KY. He is a graduate of Sydney University with a B.A, M.A and Dip Ed., and currently completing a Doctorate.

He is experienced in all areas of radio having worked as program director, music director, and a writer of radio specials at a variety of Commercial radio stations in Sydney and presenter of a current affairs and news programs at 2GB, 2SM and 2KY.

Gareth was Head of the Radio Department and The Australian Film Radio & Television School in the early 1990’s. He has an A.Mus.A .from the Conservatorium, has lectured in English for the University of Sydney, as well as running Media courses with the Australian Catholic University.

Gareth did training at the Ensemble Theatre under the tutelage of Hayes Gordon to develop his understanding of personal communication. He was the national publicist for the Papal Tour during the Beatification of Mary MacKillop in January 1995, spending 2 weeks with the Pope. Gareth was also awarded a Citation from the United Nations for the Media peace Awards.

For many years he was a teacher with the Department of Education running a large department at 2 High Schools with the English and History Departments. He has also been the voice of the Cancer Council’s Relay for life for 15 years endeavoring to raise much needed funds to find a cure for Cancer.

On Australia Day 2015 he received an OAM for his services to Radio, Education and the Community.
